Sugar Coated blurb:

An unhealthy addiction to sugar cubes, a deep-seated fear of water, and universal luxury—these are the simple things that make up 18-year-old Brynn's Utopian existence. Why, then, is her perfect life also plagued with unanswered questions?

Like every other resident of the planet Halcyon, Brynn's home provides everything she needs, money is unheard of, and life is perfect. But unlike the rest of Seaside's residents, Brynn has questions. Why can't people leave the city? Why does the ocean fill everyone with terror? Who are the Workers? Not only is Brynn curious where others are compliant, but she suffers from chronic nightmares of an angelic woman torturing her for information she doesn’t possess. But these are more than just figments of her imagination; they're memories of things that never happened.

When Brynn meets Jonah, a brilliant, library-dwelling boy who shares her questions and her curiosity, they formulate a plan to find answers. Somewhere, the perfect veneer of Halcyon's instant gratification hides a city that only Brynn knows about—a city she and Jonah are determined to find. But will finding the city give them answers, or simply uncover the horrific truth behind the perfection?

Sugar Coated Excerpt:

Blinding white lights flashed into life, revealing a room less cavernous and imposing than she had expected. Instead, the room with the white walls, ceilings, and floor was quite small; small enough for her to run from one end to the other without ever breaking a sweat. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust and once they did, she still couldn’t be sure of what she was seeing. There seemed to be a complete lack of color in this small room, as if it had been drained right before her arrival and was shining more brightly because of its recent purge.
Brynn blinked her eyes a few more times, trying to clear the spots that sprang into existence when the less-than-subtle lights had ignited. Now that she had a proper hold on her surroundings, she could see the impossibility of the room. There were no windows. There were no doors. There was no way in or out. So how had she gotten there?
“We apologize for any inconvenience your death may cause you at this time,” said a smooth, soothing female voice over what Brynn could only describe as a loudspeaker. If the woman’s voice hadn’t been so calm and collected, it may have taken her less time to understand exactly what she was saying before the sickly sweet smell of sugar hit her nose; like cookies right out of the oven.
This wasn’t just a room. It was a death chamber.
“We appreciate your cooperation and would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the best thing to do in this situation is enjoy this smell, generated for your pleasure,” the voice told her, never losing that deep, rich timbre.
Brynn thought that if she hadn’t been in an obviously dire situation, she would have loved nothing more than to listen to the beautiful voice and smell the sweet sugar all day long. But as it turned out, there wasn’t much time left in her day right at that moment.
Listening to the woman’s instructions against her better judgment, Brynn took one deep breath, enjoying the smell of the unnaturally rich sugar before her cheek made contact with the hard white floor with a sickening thud.

The Fabulous Martina Desiree came by to share her love of Music!

Welcome Martina Desiree! I’m so glad you could join me!
Why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Well, there are many different aspect of me. This summer I have been focusing on the musician and artist side of me. Music and art are great J I love expressing myself through a bunch of different instruments and art mediums. Creativity is something that I love to do. Maybe sometime I will post some of my art on my music facebook J

When did you first start singing?

I can’t even remember! I do however remember making my family watch my little shows :p

What do you love about singing?

It lets me feel free (:

Do you write your own music?

I sure do and I completely love it! Letting out my feeling to lyrics or a tune keeps me sane. I have been writing poetry to express my emotions ever since I remember and those poems evolved into songs J

What do you need when writing music? Anything special, like chocolate chip cookies, or green M&M’s? :D

Haha! No, I don’t need anything special! Sometimes I just jot down some lyrics on a napkin if that’s when the inspiration comes to me! But, I sure would NOT mind having some chocolates by my side at anytime. I am defiantly a huge fan :p

Can you provide us with music clip or video?

Sure thing! Here is my youtube account: http://www.youtube.com/martinadesireemusic

Here are a few links to some songs that I have uploaded (ones I have written and covers) :

Sounds great Martina!

The Important stuff!
Any advice for aspiring artists?

To keep doing what you love and never stop! Just because you don’t become a sensation right away, does NOT mean that you have failed. It means that your music career is in progress, not over.

VJ Chisholm shares her world! Come join us!

Hi Victoria! Welcome to my crazy world! Come on in, sit down for a spell and tell us all about you!

Ok I’m VJ Chisholm, I’m from Scotland. I was born in and bred in my hometown of Aberdeen, I’ve just recently moved down to the Perthshire area and I’m loving it. I’m hot footing it single and live with my wee dog Chase.

I've always wanted to visit Scotland! :D

When did you first start writing?

I use to enter drama contest when I was younger and it was via one of those contests that I got talked into trying my hand a poetry writing contest and that got me scribbling away.

What do you love about writing?

I love the never ending ideas I got for writing for just basic everyday things, like people watching, songs on my iPod etc.

What do you need when writing?

I need music to help me write- it keeps the ideas the flowing, a big mug of coffee as well as some chocolate and for my dog to be quiet or relaxed (it this last thing – that causes me the most issues while I’m trying to get into deep writing mode.)

How did you go about building your world and characters?

I tend to let the characters speak for themselves to be honest.  I tend to get fixed on one aspect of them and build the rest from there. Overall any of my characters just reveal themselves bit by bit over time to me. I keep some many notebooks on each characters history, like, dislikes, their style etc.

Can you provide us with an excerpt? (Excerpt and book cover
:D)

Exerpt
Of course, it goes without saying, that when you get a bunch of semi-merry witches together, and they all go into deep problem-solving mode, well . . . Needless to say, sooner or later, spells will enter into the mix. As always, it was one of the younger neophyte’s that was out to impress the group by showing how useful they could be. She bounced out the door into the old coven library to see if there were any magickal tips, or even better yet, an actual spell that would work wonders to fix the problem.  Thirty minutes later, the same sister returned with one of the oldest looking books, only this one did not come from the library, but rather from Amanda’s own personal collection. Smiling broadly, she maneuvered her way through the sisters to get to Amanda before saying, “This may work! What do you think?”  Alexia lifted her head as she was chatting with one of the sisters sitting next to her to gauge Amanda’s reaction to whatever spell the youngster had dumped in her lap. She’d looked up at just the right time to see her coven leader lift her head, and look right at her with what could only be described as a wicked smile upon her best friend’s lips. Oooohhh, that didn’t bode well for her!

Oh that sounds great! I'm going to have to pick up a copy!

Fun time!

Do you play games? If so what kind? If not, why the heck not?

Either/ or Lightening round!

Are you a dog person or a cat person?
