Welcome Martina Desiree! I’m so glad you could join me!
Why don’t you
tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well, there are many different
aspect of me. This summer I have been focusing on the musician and artist side
of me. Music and art are great J I love expressing myself
through a bunch of different instruments and art mediums. Creativity is
something that I love to do. Maybe sometime I will post some of my art on my
music facebook J
When did you
first start singing?
I can’t even remember! I do however remember making my
family watch my little shows :p
What do you
love about singing?
It lets me feel free (:
Do you write
your own music?
I sure do and I completely love
it! Letting out my feeling to lyrics or a tune keeps me sane. I have been
writing poetry to express my emotions ever since I remember and those poems
evolved into songs J
What do you
need when writing music? Anything special, like chocolate chip cookies, or
green M&M’s? :D
Haha! No, I don’t need anything
special! Sometimes I just jot down some lyrics on a napkin if that’s when the
inspiration comes to me! But, I sure would NOT mind having some chocolates by
my side at anytime. I am defiantly a huge fan :p
Can you provide
us with music clip or video?
Sure thing! Here is my youtube account: http://www.youtube.com/martinadesireemusic
Here are a few links to some
songs that I have uploaded (ones I have written and covers) :
Hi Victoria! Welcome to my crazy world! Come on in, sit down for
a spell and tell us all about you!
Ok I’m VJ Chisholm, I’m from Scotland. I was born in and bred in
my hometown of Aberdeen, I’ve just recently moved down to the Perthshire area
and I’m loving it. I’m hot footing it single and live with my wee dog Chase.
I've always wanted to visit Scotland! :D
When did you first start writing?
I use to enter drama contest when I was
younger and it was via one of those contests that I got talked into trying my
hand a poetry writing contest and that got me scribbling away.
What do you love about writing?
I love the never ending ideas I got for writing
for just basic everyday things, like people watching, songs on my iPod etc.
What do you need when writing?
I need music to help me
write- it keeps the ideas the flowing, a big mug of coffee as well as some
chocolate and for my dog to be quiet or relaxed (it this last thing – that
causes me the most issues while I’m trying to get into deep writing mode.)
How did you go about building your world and characters?
I tend to let the characters speak for themselves to
be honest. I tend to get fixed on one
aspect of them and build the rest from there. Overall any of my characters just
reveal themselves bit by bit over time to me. I keep some many notebooks on
each characters history, like, dislikes, their style etc.
Can you provide us with an excerpt? (Excerpt and book cover
Of course, it goes
without saying, that when you get a bunch of semi-merry witches together, and
they all go into deep problem-solving mode, well . . . Needless to say, sooner
or later, spells will enter into the mix. As always, it was one of the younger
neophyte’s that was out to impress the group by showing how useful they could
be. She bounced out the door into the old coven library to see if there were
any magickal tips, or even better yet, an actual spell that would work wonders
to fix the problem. Thirty minutes
later, the same sister returned with one of the oldest looking books, only this
one did not come from the library, but rather from Amanda’s own personal
collection. Smiling broadly, she maneuvered her way through the sisters to get
to Amanda before saying, “This may work! What do you think?” Alexia lifted her head as she was chatting
with one of the sisters sitting next to her to gauge Amanda’s reaction to
whatever spell the youngster had dumped in her lap. She’d looked up at just the
right time to see her coven leader lift her head, and look right at her with
what could only be described as a wicked smile upon her best friend’s lips.
Oooohhh, that didn’t bode well for her!
Oh that sounds great! I'm going to have to pick up a copy!
Do you play games? If so what kind? If not, why the heck not?
Well I own a Wii fit – does that count? LOL
Of course it counts! :D I love the Wii Fit!
Kelley Armstrong for her Otherworld women series

Any advice for aspiring authors?
If you have a good plot and you love it , you believe
in it ! Go for it , help out other authors where you can and make as many
contacts as you well . It will all pay off one day.
Hi! Thank you for joining myself, Joseph Eastwood, and Elizabeth, the host
of this wonderful blog, to celebrate the re-release of Lumen!
So Joseph, why don't you tell us what a Luminary is...
What is a
At the time of
planning the series, I had the idea of what I wanted to happen and what I
wanted this race of people to have,
but I didn't have a name for them. And so, I went to the online thesauruses and
I looked through words, like “gods” and “star” etc. and that’s when I came upon
“Luminary”; definition, meaning someone who inspires others and is prominent
within their field. It was the perfect description for what I wanted to
describe these people as.
There are seven
luminary beings, and from them, they introduced the manipulation of magic into
the world… if you read Lumen you’ll learn more about that. Each of the seven
people are scarred with an astrological symbol on their body; Sun, Moon, Mars,
Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn. And throughout the series you’ll see a lot
of these symbols etched into skins, and people become really crazy.
Well, what would
you do if you found the people you were praying to had been living among you?
You wouldn’t sit idly by, would you?
A Luminary is a
god, or god-like being, and within the Blood Luminary series, you will see the
foundation of a religion, and the only way you’ll find out what happens to that
is if you read the series.
That sounds like a fantastic read! I can't wait to get my hands on your series! :D
In case you haven't met Joseph and you are wondering just who he is, here is his bio:
About the Author
JOSEPH EASTWOOD, born 9th June 1993, Lancaster, England, has always been adamant in his dreams of being a published author. Although he has been through the stages of wanting to be in every other profession under the sun, and what better way to live out all of those professions than to be an author and create people with them.
Now, I really have to say that doesn't give you much to go on, Joseph! For those of you that don't know him, Joseph is a really funny guy and one of the most creative people I've met, so if Lumen's not already on your Goodreads to-read list, you should really go and add it now!
What else do you have for us Joseph? I know you have more... :D
Oh, and this blog post is not the only one. If you want more information, don’t forget to log on to Facebook and hit JOIN on the event… what, what event? Excellent, Joseph! Now tell us where we can stalk you! :D
Please help me welcome back Carmilla to my blog! Hi
Carmilla! Thanks so much for joining me today! I understand you have a new book
you, Elizabeth. The new book is a sumptuous anthology, full to the brim with
short stories, poems and graphic art from 21 of the most talented indie horror
writers and artists. It’s very exciting. I chose, from hundreds of submissions,
my 23 favourites and added three tales of my own. The theme of the anthology is
psychological horror. Some of the stories can be painful to read and others are
terrifying. Together they take the reader on an emotional, but worthwhile,
journey. The collection is called “Broken Mirrors, Fractured Minds” and will be
released on the 2nd of August.
Is this part of a series? Tell me about that.
isn’t, however, “Black Sun”, the final book in my critically acclaimed
Starblood Trilogy is being released a month later, on Friday 13th
September. The series of books is about a group of gothic characters and deals
with issues such as female rage.
Do you have any events coming up?
will be Facebook based release parties for both books. Details will be posted
on the Vamptasy Publishing FB page and my own page, which can be found at - https://www.facebook.com/Author.Carmilla.Voiez
What can we look forward to reading from you in the
future? Do you have more series planned? Any new projects?
am currently working on two new projects, well three almost, I’ll explain. I’m
writing a tale based on a Scottish legend about the selkie, or seal women
(similar to mermaids, I guess). I am writing two versions, a relatively “clean”
version for a YA audience and a sexed up version for the erotica loving reader.
The tale is a love story and also deals with a loss of self in an intense
romantic relationship. All of my stories seem to have psychological themes.
am also writing a novel about a self-loathing vampire who becomes obsessed with
a woman who has no interest in him romantically, but they each learn from each
other and are richer for their friendship. It sounds like a sweet story, and I
suppose it is, but it is also a horror novel at heart.
don’t have any idea of release dates for any of these 2/3 at the moment.
Do you have any advice for new writers?
writing. Let your first draft flow freely from your imagination. Leave editing
until after you have purged yourself of the story, but then edit a lot. Edit on
the screen, read it out and edit again, print it out and edit again, send it to
beta readers for feedback and edit AGAIN.
When you aren’t writing, what do you do for fun?
of course. I also have a passion for music, listening to rather than
performing. I enjoy dancing, again for fun. I have two daughters and we spend a
lot of time together walking through woodlands or building sandcastles. We live
in a beautiful town. Oh and I am obsessed with Facebook.
What is a typical day like for you?
up, check Facebook while smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee. Wake the kids
up and get them ready for school. Check Facebook and do some promoting of my
books and/or fellow authors’ books and often music events. Smoke another
cigarette and drink more coffee. Write or edit, whichever project I am working
on that day. It could be my short story, my novel, an anthology, or a film
review or even a new blog post. Eat lunch. Check Facebook, smoke and drink tea.
Write or edit more. Pick up kids from school. Help with homework and run around
trying to clean and tidy the entire house in thirty minutes, always a failure
but I still try. Cook dinner, feed the kids, check Facebook, smoke and drink
tea. Play with the kids or watch something rubbish with them. Get youngest one
to bed and read her a story. Say goodnight to oldest one. Collapse in heap.
